Springfield Armory’s XD-series pistols provide shooters with a wide range of mission-specific models that range from compact 9 mms, to full-size variants with extended barrel lengths, such as the XD Mod.2 5” Tactical Model that is up for this week’s NRA Gun of the Week. Building on the successes of the XD’s striker-fired system and fire control group, the subject of this review features refinements to the gripping surfaces as compared to the generation before it. Chambered for .45 ACP, and with capacity for 13 rounds, the 5” Tactical Model offers shooters  a robust and accurate firearm.
