An intruder into an Orem, Utah, garage got a little more than he bargained for. The homeowner confronted the 49-year old burglar in his garage at around 7 a.m., whereupon an altercation ensued. When the intruder attempted to assault the homeowner, the homeowner fired several shots in return, killing the man. (Salt Lake Tribune, Salt Lake City, Utah, 10/16/2018)

Grocer Sam Totah and his son were in their San Francisco, Calif., store when 2 men walked in and robbed him at gun point. One robber fled with the loot while the other armed bandit walked around the counter and knocked the grocer down. Totah reached under the counter and got his pistol. The bandit fired at the shopkeeper and missed. Totah fired 3 shots at the bandit. The armed robber was dead on arrival at the hospital. (San Francisco Examiner)
