In Chicago, a worker protected his employer’s place of business from being knocked off in an attempted robbery. Around 9:45 p.m., two men entered the establishment, announcing to everyone inside that they were going to rob it. The employee pulled his concealed firearm and fired, striking one assailant in the shoulder and the other in the forearm. Both were later arrested, as was a third suspect. (Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago, IL, 11/29/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
Attempted robbery never pays off and that’s exactly what two teens found out when they broke into a home trying to steal an Xbox, video games and money. Masked and armed with a hammer, the teenagers broke through a back window and were standing in the dining room when the homeowner found the young men. Fearful for his safety, the homeowner fired a shot, killing one of the teens, while the other ran and was later arrested and charged with robbery, burglary, conspiracy and other related counts. The homeowner was not charged. (The Patriot-News, Penbrook, PA, 1/24/17)

Minnie Storer and her husband, both 77, returned to their Sacramento, Calif., trailer home one evening to find a youthful burglar inside. When the hoodlum began to beat her husband, Mrs. Storer pulled a .38-cal. revolver from a chair and fired, hitting the assailant in the abdomen. (The Union, Sacramento, CA)
