Keepings guns bedside paid off for an Akron, Ohio, couple. The husband and wife were awakened by noise one morning, but they figured it was just the sound of another family member returning home. A little while later, however, a stranger entered their bedroom. Both residents reached for their guns and held the intruder at gunpoint. When the police arrived and searched the home, they found the man’s jacket—with a loaded handgun in the pocket—on the couch in the living room. The man faces multiple charges. Early one Saturday morning, a teenager was home alone when he heard someone trying to break into the house. The would-be robber allegedly pried open a back door and, armed with a knife, entered the residence. But the boy,  who had armed himself with a shotgun, confronted the intruder and ordered him twice to drop the knife. The suspect eventually complied and fled the scene.
