As part of Remington Arms Co.’s yearlong celebration as America’s oldest gun maker, a collection of Remington Custom Bicentennial firearms will be offered in a live auction hosted by James D. Julia Inc. Auctioneers.

Serious buyers will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bid on a rare collection of three of Remington’s most renowned firearms—a Model 870 shotgun, a Model 700 bolt-action rifle, and a Model 1911 R1 pistol—one of four custom sets that were hand-engraved by Remington Custom Shop Master Engraver Jesse Kaufman. It is the only set being made available for public sale, which will take place Oct. 6, 2016. All proceeds will go to benefit Remington’s conservation funds.

In addition to sporting matching serial numbers, the firearms are crafted with American black walnut stocks, hand-checkered grips with a rubbed oil finish, and special bicentennial commemorative engraving with heavy gold wire inlay. Each firearm also contains unique characteristics, such as a gold front sight on the R1 pistol and leather buttpads on the long guns.  A custom leather motor travel case and a custom wood and glass display case with bicentennial etching glass are included.

Even if you are unable to participate in the auction, you can get a closer look at how this remarkable collection was crafted in this fascinating video, "Making the Bicentennial Collection." Get complete details on all the firearms' features here, or to register for the auction visit Remington.com/BicentennialAuction.
