A West Virginia man was savvy enough to suspect that a young woman who knocked on his door and asked to use the phone might be up to no good. So before he opened the door, he armed himself. He was right. As soon as the door was ajar, two male suspects also hustled into the home. They threatened the resident and demanded that he hand over his valuables. The elderly homeowner instead pulled out a gun and fired multiple times, hitting each of the male intruders. The female accomplice escaped the fray. One of the shooting victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was treated for his wounds. He and the woman now faces charges. (wvmetronews.com, Fairmont, WV, 4/19/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
A Louisville, Ky., man is dead after his attempt to break into a home was foiled by an armed resident. The burglar was in the act of entering the home when he was fired upon by the male homeowner. By the time the police arrived, the suspect had already passed away outside the residence. While an investigation into the incident is on-going, the police said a preliminary examination indicates that the shooting was justified and that charges were not expected to be filed against the armed citizen.
