Weatherby has issued a Product Safety Recall for the SA-08 28-gauge semi-automatic shotgun. The affected shotguns display serial numbers on the receiver ranging from AN00001-AN02802 (inclusive).

According to Weatherby's official press release, the safety recall announcement is "based on reported incidents of accidental discharge upon bolt closure and chambering of a live shot shell. Weatherby advises customers to immediately cease use of affected shotguns and contact Weatherby for instructions to return them free of charge. The shotguns will be inspected, repaired, tested, and returned as soon as possible. Customers should not attempt to diagnose or repair the shotguns themselves, but rather contact Weatherby for return instructions."

If you are in possession of one of the firearms referred to above, please contact Weatherby at 1-805-227-2600 Monday-Thursday between 6:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Pacific Time; 1-800-227-2018 ext. 6 after regular business hours. You may also e-mail: [email protected].

For additional information, visit weatherby.com/28.

Weatherby apologizes for any inconvenience that may be caused to customers resulting from this safety recall program, but urges owners of affected shotguns to take advantage of this free repair program. No other Weatherby shotguns are affected by this safety recall.
