When Lew Alessi passed away a few years ago, many were afraid the fine handmade holster designs he pioneered would also be lost. But Alessi Holsters President Tom Kulwicki has picked up the company’s standard and continues the firm’s tradition of producing holsters one at a time, using only the finest-grade leathers and all 100-percent U.S.-made materials.

Examining the CQC/S, the outside-the-waistband model’s quality and utility become obvious when noticing the double rows of stitching and the detailed boning for specific firearm fit. The belt-snaps lock securely for easy on/off installation of the holster, and the slight forward tilt places the handgun in a position for easy accessibility from concealed carry. An additional layer of leather reinforces the holster mouth for one-hand re-holstering.

The tailored handgun-fit securely holds the firearm while still allowing a smooth draw. Finishes include black and brown, and models for common firearms are available in right- and left-hand versions. Designed for use with 1 1/2-inch belts, the holsters carry lifetime guarantees, and portions of their sales go to support NRA. Price: $135.
