Memorial Day shoppers, including one armed citizen, chased down a suspected thief in Wichita, Kan. Several people in the parking lot of the shopping center witnessed a purse-snatching while a woman was loading shopping bags into her car. A couple responded by running after the man. Once they cornered him, one armed bystander held the troublemaker at gunpoint until the police arrived. (KWCH-TV, Wichita, KS, 5/30/16)

The Armed Citizen® Extra
A drunken 32-year-old was shot in the shoulder when he attempted to kick in the front door of a suburban Cincinnati home. Upon encountering the intruder, the 82-year-old resident fired his .38 Spl.-chambered revolver one time. The wounded man then retreated to a neighbor’s yard, where he was apprehended by the police. The authorities believe the man was mistakenly attempting to gain entry into the wrong house, as the residence he was staying in with his uncle is nearly identical to, and is the same distance from the bar in a different direction, as the victim’s home. The armed citizen does not face any charges for the defensive use of his firearm. “If you break into someone’s home, you can expect to get shot,” said the local county prosecutor. August 1967
A lone gunman held up Arch Jinkin’s Long Beach, Calif., store, forcing Jinkins and a clerk to lie on the floor while he emptied the cash register. When a customer entered, the gunman robbed him and ordered him to the floor, as well. When a second customer entered, distracting the thief, Jinkins snatched up his .25 ACP-chambered pistol and dropped the suspect with two shots. (Los Angeles Herald Examiner, Los Angeles, CA)
