Two men allegedly impersonating FBI agents attempted to force their way into an Española, N.M., apartment around 4 a.m. One intruder was armed with what was later discovered to be a pellet gun with a laser pointer taped to the top of it. The homeowner announced several times that he was armed. After the intruder with the gun entered the apartment living room, the homeowner fired, fatally striking him. The intruder, a 31-year-old man, was later transported to the hospital where he died. The other suspect fled the scene and has yet to be identified. The armed citizen was not charged. A woman in Cherokee County defended herself from a repeat aggressor one Tuesday night. When a strange man began banging on the doors and windows of her house, the Oklahoma homeowner asked him to leave. He first backed off into a yard, but then returned even more aggressive. After arming herself with a gun, the homeowner confronted him, at which point the man threatened to kill her. When he began to come at her, she fired on him twice, killing him.
