Armed Citizen® Today

A worker in Memphis, Tenn., was forced to defend himself when he confronted two armed robbers at a home we was working at on Nov. 30, 2020.

The incident started that Friday afternoon when one of the robbers took an air compressor from the porch of the home that was being worked on. The robber then jumped into a grey sedan parked in the street in front of the home, leaving the air compressor partially hanging out of the car. One of the men doing construction work on the house noticed the robber taking the air compressor and confronted him and the getaway driver in the front yard of the home.

The getaway driver pulled out a gun, but never fired. The robber also pulled a gun, dropping the air compressor in the process, and began shooting at the worker. The worker dropped to the ground with the shots and returned fire at the armed robber with his own handgun. Another worker outside at the time fled back inside the home. The robber and getaway driver sped off from the scene as the worker returned fire.

Police responded to the scene around 2:00 p.m. No one was struck during the change of fire, but the victims were reportedly "shaken up" by the incident. Police say the worker who returned fire on the armed robber will not face charges, as they believe the shots he fired were justified. (wreg.com, Memphis, Tenn., 10/30/2020)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives June 1975

When Mrs. Lilly Mahone began hearing noises outside her window in an Atlanta, Ga. apartment complex, she started carrying her .38 caliber pistol to bed. One night she was awakened by the sound of her kitchen window breaking. Rising from bed, the 77-year-old woman confronted a burglar.

"What are you doing in my house?" she demanded. When the man made a sudden move, she shot him down and held him captive until police arrived . (The Constitution, Atlanta, Ga.)
