An armed rental property owner defended herself from two men who tried to rob her inside of her rental unit, according to reports from the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

Police say the woman had hired the two men to help her clean one of her rental properties. While inside the house, one of the two men pulled out a firearm and attempted to rob the property owner of her purse. A struggle for the purse ensued, and the woman was able to draw and fire her handgun, causing the two men to flee the scene. Police later found the suspect at a local hospital seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to his foot.

The man was booked on counts of robbery with a firearm, grand theft and grand theft of a firearm. His accomplice, who is known to police, had an active warrant out for his arrest at the time of reporting. (CBS 12 News; Escambia County, Fla.; 9/11/24)
