A woman drove up to a Wells Fargo ATM at 2:30 a.m. on a Wednesday when she was attacked by a group of five men who tried to rob her, she said.

The woman drew her self-defense gun and fired at the group, hitting one of the assailants. Officers arrived at the scene after a 17-year-old male called 911 to report that he had been shot. Police found the 17-year-old behind a church next to the ATM.

The wounded male was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to police. At the time of reporting, the incident was still under investigation. (WSOC-TV, Charlotte, N.C., (03/18/2020)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives January 1974

Alton Nailing, 60, whose left leg was amputated in 1972, heard someone breaking through a bedroom window of his Chicago, Ill. home. He hobbled to a chair, pulled a .32-cal. revolver from under a cushion, and opened fire.

An intruder fell, fatally wounded in the head and chest. Authorities ruled the shooting justified, as Nailing was protecting himself, his wife and seven children. (The Chicago Daily News, Chicago, Ill.)
