Upon entering a restaurant in Ukiah, Calif., the crook ducked into a restroom, then re-emerged with an employee at gunpoint and proceeded to rob the establishment. Seeing his chance, the first responder drew his own concealed firearm, fired and sent the attacker fleeing. Though he quickly fled the premises and dumped the cash and his gun in the parking lot, police later found the alleged holdup man at a store and arrested him without incident. A 79-year-old woman used her pistol to bridge the generation gap when a 20-year-old broke into her Jackson County home. At first thinking two burglars were trying to breach her back door, the elderly homeowner grabbed her pistol and took control of the situation, holding the intruder at gunpoint until police arrived.
