Armed Citizen® Today

In what law enforcement called a "self-defense incident," one suspect is dead and another is in custody after attempting to rob an apartment in Mobile, Ala., belonging to a resident ready and willing to defend their home with a gun.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at about 1 p.m., the two men, one 22 years old and the other 23 years old, were part of a group that attempted to rob the apartment, when they encountered the resident who fired several shots. The 23-year-old burglar was hit and was deceased by the time officers arrived on scene.

Officers arristed the 22-year-old suspect, who was found to be on probation after pleading guilty to one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied building and one count of receiving stolen property. Despite being prohibited from possessing firearms, the suspect was discovered with a gun. He currently faces charges of first-degree burglary and persons forbidden to possess a firearm. Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke his probation, in light of these recent charges. (FOX 10 News; Mobile, Ala.; 4/17/24)

Jack Allen, an Anaheim, Calif., gun shop owner, pulled a .38-cal. revolver when one of two would-be robbers reached into his waistband for a small pistol. Firing five times, Allen scared the pair out of his store. Police later arrested the two robbers, along with a third accomplice. (Santa Ana Register, Santa Ana, Calif.)
