After his release from prison for breaking into a home two years ago, a 39-year-old convict allegedly returned to the same residence in Virginia where a 71-year-old man and his wife, age 62, lived. The Rockingham County Sheriff said the convict returned to the home Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. and engaged in a verbal dispute with the homeowner while attempting to enter the home. Hearing a commotion, the wife shot the convict in the torso with a handgun. The convict was taken to a medical center for treatment and was facing charges. A Tallahassee man was arrested after threatening two Florida residents in their home. At around 3 a.m., the man in question knocked on the door of a home, demanding $500 in rent money, waving a gun and threatening to shoot the residents and their dog. In fear for their lives, the would-be victims produced a gun in self-defense, and ordered their assailant to leave their property. When he instead leveled his gun at them, the armed resident opened fire, wounding the trespasser, who had already begun firing back. He was taken to a local hospital and released, though police arrested him the next day. (wtxl.com, Tallahassee, Fla., 4/12/2019)
