A security guard fought through a debilitating blast of pepper spray to defend his post. A prospective burglar pepper sprayed the guard and tried to rob the business, whereupon the security guard shot him. The intruder was transferred to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. When an armed bandit tried to rob a Detroit, Mich., dry cleaner, a customer, Kenneth Rice, wrested away the thief's revolver and shot at him five times. The bandit was arrested with serious wounds in the stomach and both arms. (The Detroit Free Press, Detroit, Mich.)
