A couple intervened to help a Houston McDonald's employee being held at gunpoint late one night. When a robber pointed a gun at the employee in an attempt to hold up the restaurant, the couple stepped in, with one man drawing his gun and shooting the robber. After fleeing on foot, the would-be thief was later arrested at a nearby hospital. (click2houston.com, Houston, Texas, 12/22/2018)

A New Orleans, La., woman was getting out of her car when accosted by two armed robbers demanding money. Instead of giving them money, the 34-year-old woman pulled a gun and fired at her assailants. Two wounded suspects were detained by police at a local hospital. (The Times Picayun, New Orleans, La.)
