Armed Citizen® Today

A woman defended herself from an intruder who broke into her Atlanta, Ga., home during the holidays.

On New Year's Eve 2023, a man allegedly forced his way into the woman's home around 3 a.m., then tried entering the bedroom in which the woman was located, forcing her to open fire. The man was hit once in the stomach. Police arrived soon after and took the alleged intruder to a local hospital, where he received medical attention. He is now being held at a detention center and faces charges of burglary.

"You know, it was just the holidays, so we have criminals out here trying to get people's belongings," a neighbor told FOX 5 Atlanta. (FOX 5; Atlanta, Ga.; 12/31/23)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – April 1986

A 58-year-old Garden Grove, Calif., homeowner, crippled by emphysema, looked like an easy target. But even though the man was dependent on an oxygen bottle, he managed to grab a pistol and kill the burglar who crawled in through his kitchen window. (The Herald-Examiner, Los Angeles, Calif.)
