Goats and other livestock in southwestern South Dakota have one less predator to worry about now that a teen in the region has shot and killed a mountain lion that was attacking farm animals. The wild feline was responsible for killing a goat, a duck and a cat at one ranch. The goat farmer reported the deaths to the state game department, but her son shot the 70-pound cat when it came around again before state officials had time to investigate. The burglar-conscious owner, who sleeps in his barroom to forestall such incidents, called the sheriff’s office, who discovered the prisoner was on bail pending trial on other criminal charges.
