Armed Citizen® Today

A man saved his companion from armed carjackers while outside a gas station convenience store in Nicetown, Penn., on Dec. 12, 2020.

The incident started after the man and his companion pulled up the the gas station just after 10:30 p.m. The man went inside the convenience store while his companion remained waiting in the car. It was then that a dark SUV pulled up next to the car and two armed men got out. The two armed men then attempted to carjack the companion, when the man in the convenience store walked back outside.

The man, a concealed carry permit holder, then noticed the two would-be carjackers, drew his own pistol and opened fire on the them. The carjackers returned fire, but one of them was struck in the chest and dropped to the ground. The other carjacker then jumped back into the SUV and fled the scene. The wounded carjacker was taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The incident is still under investigation by police. (fox29.com, Philadelphia, Penn., 12/13/2020)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives August 1973

When two men, one armed with a pistol, entered James Shelton's Washington, D.C., market, the gunman snarled, "All right, old man, don't move. Let's have the money." Shelton dropped to the floor, drew his own gun and fired at the gunman, who fled. The second man confronted ted Shelton, who told him to leave. "I'm buying," the man replied, reaching into his back pocket. Shelton fired and fatally wounded the holdup man. (The Washington Post, Washington, D.C.)
