Armed Citizen® Today

In Riverton, Utah, on Aug. 7, a 23-year-old man entered a gas station and attempted to purchase alcohol. He could not produce an ID, however, so he was denied the sale. He began arguing with the clerk, but two customers intervened and persuaded him to leave.

The man, however, merely circled the store’s parking lot in his vehicle and then re-entered the gas station, this time wielding a shotgun. The two customers who had previously intervened were carrying concealed, however, and both shot the assailant, who died. (abc4.com; Salt Lake City, Utah; 8/13/26)

From the Armed Citizen® Archives – March 27, 1987

When an armed man attempted to rob Salvatore Caruso's San Diego, Calif., shoe repair shop for the second time, the 61-year-old owner decided to fight back. While handing money to the robber with his left hand, Caruso fired a .38-cal. revolver from his right, wounding the armed man. The wounded man was held by police on suspicion of armed robbery and attempted robbery. A preliminary investigation showed Caruso was justified in shooting the robber. (The Union; San Diego, Calif.)

President’s Column | President Meets President

I am quite certain, that for the first time in NRA history the President of the United States met with the NRA president, the NRA president asked for his support for national Right-to-Carry (NRTC), and then, on a national stage, President Trump called out the NRA president’s name and pledged his support for national Right-to-Carry legislation. But that’s exactly what happened at a rally near Allentown, Pa., in late June.
