A bystander came to the rescue of a woman who was being assaulted by a man in a Waco, Texas, gas station on Jan. 28, 2022.

Sometime around 7 p.m. that Friday evening, a woman ran into the QukTrip gas station, being pursued by a man armed with a knife. Once both were inside the store, the attacker continued to pursue the woman and managed to catch her, before he began to stab her relentlessly on the floor of the shop. As the man continued his assault, the situation attracted the attention of a bystander, who happened to be armed with a pistol.

Witnessing the scene unfold, the bystander produced his pistol and came to the aid of the embattled woman, opening fire on her assailant. The bystander's rounds found their mark and had the desired effect, ending the assailant's rampage. When police arrived after 7:40 p.m., they found both the woman and her attacker seriously wounded, and both were taken to local hospital. (wacotrib.com, Waco, Texas, 01/29/2022)
