Armed Citizen® Today

A 46-year-old woman near Athens, Ga., reportedly suffered a severely violent assault by her own husband in Athens, Ga., on March 10. During the incident, in which the woman was purportedly punched, choked and raped, she attempted to reach her phone but the man grabbed it away and threw her to the ground again.

Eventually, the woman was able to get to a phone and call her son, who arrived shortly thereafter, only to be met by the alleged aggressor, who reportedly pointed a pistol at him. The son drew his own firearm and shot one round, failing to strike the purported assailant but causing him to flee into the woods.

Police found him there and arrested him; the suspect faces charges of false imprisonment, aggravated assault, family violence battery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. (classiccitynews.com, Athens, Ga., 3/20/26)
