Similar to other inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster designs, the Onyx from StealthGearUSA is distinguished by the materials used in its construction. The form-fitted, full-coverage Kydex holster is well executed and provides good retention and protection for the firearm, but it is the ventilated, cushioned back panel that sets the Onyx apart. Using five layers of athletic-grade mesh and padding, the Onyx is light weight, comfortable and breathable-a desirable trait for a holster designed to ride against the body underneath layers of clothing. Another benefit discovered during evaluation is that the holster, due to the compressible material, keeps the gun very close to the body, causing little to no “printing” during concealed carry, comparing favorably to some other IWB products. Stainless steel hardware and belt clips make the platform durable and adjustable. The holsters are handmade in the United States and models are available for most popular semi-automatic handguns (Smith & Wesson M&P Shield model shown). Due to high demand, expect a four-to-six-week fulfillment time.

Price: $99.
