Zeroing a rifle, especially a heavy-recoiling one, can be exhaustive and sometimes punishing—Caldwell’s Lead Sled DFT 2 is designed to eliminate nearly all felt recoil and vibrations. Featuring Dual Frame Technology (DFT), the unit’s support mechanism adjusts fore and aft, up to 18", to fit most firearms. A skeletonized rubber rest supports the gun of choice, and a rubber strap helps secure the firearm into place. Simple one-handed windage and elevation adjustments make for easy sighting and operation. The sled’s lower tray supports up to 100 lbs. of weight, helping to anchor it to a bench and subdue felt recoil. A nonmarring Shock Eliminator pad at the rest’s rear helps remove shock and vibration, too. Price: $260. Contact: Caldwell Shooting Supplies; (573) 445-9200; btibrands.com.

Standing Guard | Standing on the Line for Freedom

This past August marks 46 years since I raised my right hand and was commissioned as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. In the summer of 1980, I entered active duty with a firm sense of civic duty and a deep desire to serve our great nation. Like so many who wear the uniform, I was ready to contribute directly to the defense of freedom.
