Since its U.S. introduction in 2008, Springfield Armory’s XD-M has not only earned “Handgun of the Year” from this publication but has received improvements along the way to better serve discerning enthusiasts and dedicated professionals alike. Designed for optic-ready, concealed-carry use, Springfield Armory’s XD-M Elite 3.8” Compact OSP packs a potent punch by way of its 10 mm Auto chambering.

The Springfield Armory XD-M Elite combines impressive capacity and performance with concealable dimensions for ease of carry—it measures 6.75” long and is just over 4.5” tall and weighs in at 27 ounces empty—while providing optic-ready compatibility and upgrades that improve upon the user experience. Built-in passive safety systems come standard with the striker-fired XD-M Elite along with bilateral controls and semi-automatic functionality.

The 10 mm Auto chambering in a lightweight and compact platform usually creates a heavy-recoiling and hard-to-shoot recipe, however, our experience proved otherwise. The gun is controllable and accurate, thanks to the included match-grade barrel, ergonomic frame styling, removable magazine funnel and upgraded trigger—Springfield includes its Match Enhance Trigger Assembly (META) system for consistent pulls and clean breaks. Our experience with the META system found it to be a premium feature of the XD-M Elite handgun line.

In 10 mm Auto, Springfield Armory offers the XD-M Elite 3.8” Compact OSP in two versions, with or without a red-dot optic. The standard sighting arrangement here is a white-outlined, U-notch rear and fiber-optic post front configuration. Springfield catalogs its XD-M Elite OSP with the HEX Dragonfly, a lightweight red-dot built from 6061 T6 aluminum featuring scratch resistant glass and anti-glare coatings. Both irons and red-dot are adjustable for pin-point accuracy.
