Springfield Armory expanded its popular XD-M lineup of handguns with an all-new optic-ready option. The new Springfield XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact OSP is a carry-sized pistol complete with all of the enhancements found in the company's Elite handguns, and it comes with either a milled slide or Springfield's new Hex Dragonfly red-dot optic already installed.

At the heart of this EDC-friendly pistol, you'll find a compact frame complete with a short magazine well. The frame's overall height makes it easy to carry comfortably and conceal easily throughout daily carry, while the short, low-profile magazine well gives you the ability to perform quick reloads, thanks to the funneled opening. This magazine well can also be removed easily to accommodate extended magazines with grip sleeves.

The other part of the carry-ready equation in the XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact OSP is the short 3.8" barrel. Just because it's short, though, doesn't mean it won't put rounds right where you need them. This barrel is cut to match-grade tolerances, and it's made from hammer-forged steel and treated with a Melonite finish that's incredibly hard and resists corrosion and wear that are realities with daily carry.

Of course, the real story on this all-new OSP pistol is found at the top of the slide. While each pistol still comes with a standard fiber-optic front sight and a Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight, the rear portion of the slide features a milled slot designed to accept most of today's popular red-dot optics. A model of the XD-M Elite 3.8" OSP even comes with Springfield's 3.5 MOA Hex Dragonfly red-dot sight already mounted to the gun. This durable optic matches the look of the XD-M's slide serrations, and it's built with an anodized-aluminum housing and a scratch-resistant lens. The Hex Dragonfly red-dot sight is powered by a single CR2032 battery and features a 100,000-hour battery life.

The enhancements don't stop there, though. As part of Springfield Armory's Elite line of handguns, this XD-M 3.8" OSP pistol is outfitted with the company's Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META). This design incorporates a flat-faced trigger shoe with a built-in trigger safety and an integrated overtravel stop. From start to finish, it's built to be one of the best factory triggers on the market.

Overall, the Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 3.8" Compact OSP pistol measures 6.75" long, 4.58" high and 1.2" at its widest point. Unloaded, the gun weighs 27.5 ozs. Suggested retail pricing on the optic-ready model is $633, while the Dragonfly-equipped model retails for $818. For more information, visit springfield-armory.com.
