In pursuit of living “prepared,” easy access to a portable light may seem like basic tenet to be covered in EDC 101. However, when “prepared” includes armed personal defense, there is a lively discussion afoot regarding the value of equipping a defensive handgun with a light. Many voices have weighed in, each with their own perspective. Curious about the topic, American Rifleman’s Joe Kurtenbach wanted to explore the value of pistol-mounted lights for himself, and in this video he addresses a few of the perceived drawbacks and old-school superstitions, and introduces the carry rig he intends to use to further explore the issue.
