The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently awarded Federal Premium and Remington Ammunition—both members of The Kinetic Group (TKG) family of firms—one of the largest law-enforcement contracts in TKG history. The contract is valued at $77.4 million to provide four different 5.56 NATO loads for FBI use.

TKG was chosen as the sole supplier in all of the rifle product categories. Federal Premium will provide duty, training reduced lead and non-jacketed loads. Remington, combined with additional technology from HEVI, was selected in the fourth product category: jacketed frangible ammunition. Delivery is expected to begin this year.

“This is a tremendous honor for our company,” said TKG CEO Jason Vanderbrink. “All our brands are humbled and excited to build and deliver ammunition to the FBI. It is one of the most prestigious contracts ever awarded in our long-established company history. To receive an award in all four of the requested categories is an accomplishment we are extremely proud of. This is a great source of pride for our highly skilled American workforce dedicated to engineering and building the most advanced ammunition in the world.”

The FBI selected Federal’s 64-grain Premium Tactical Bonded load for duty use. The company’s 64-grain Modified Jacketed Soft Points were chosen in the training reduced lead category and the firm’s 45-grain Ervin BallstiClean RHT earned the contract for non-jacketed frangible. The jacketed frangible load will be Remington Ammunition’s a 55-grain Disintegrator Lead-Free product, which includes HEVI’s powder metal core with a Remington jacket.

TKG companies have a long history of working with law enforcement and the U.S. military. In May, for example, Federal Premium signed an agreement to provide 40 million Peak Alloy cartridge cases and allow the U.S. Army to use the patented technology.

President’s Column | President Meets President

I am quite certain, that for the first time in NRA history the President of the United States met with the NRA president, the NRA president asked for his support for national Right-to-Carry (NRTC), and then, on a national stage, President Trump called out the NRA president’s name and pledged his support for national Right-to-Carry legislation. But that’s exactly what happened at a rally near Allentown, Pa., in late June.
