San Tan Tactical of Chandler, AZ, has announced the STT-15-6ARC rifle chambered for Hornady’s 6mm ARC cartridge. Poised to provide shooters with a lightweight option built on the AR-15 platform, San Tan Tactical joined with Proof Research for its carbon-fiber-wrapped barrel that accompanies its STT-15 matched receiver set. Considering Lite is in the rifle’s nomenclature, engineers have enhanced the receiver by featuring lightening pillar cuts to reduce overall weight.

A precision-built rifle is critical to achieve optimum performance with Hornady’s 6mm ARC cartridge, and San Tan Tactical has leveraged engineering capability and its relationship with Proof Research to provide a barrel and receiver combination designed to provide consistency from the semi-automatic rifle system along with AR-15, M16 and M4 parts compatibility.

The new 6mm cartridge, at this time, is available in three loadings with bullet weights ranging from 103 gr. to 108 gr. To accommodate this range of bullet selections, Proof Research provides an 18" barrel with rifling twisted to 1:7.5” and paired with a .750" low-profile gas block. A 6.5mm Grendel-size bolt head its attached to San Tan Tactical's enhanced bolt carrier group, which has been optimized for use with sound suppressors.

Further enhancing the rifle’s accuracy potential is an adjustment screw that allows users to tension the upper and lower receiver’s fit. Additionally, an adjustment for trigger creep is provided—the 3.5-lb. single-stage match unit is supplied by CMC Triggers.

Picatinny rail covers the full length of the rifles top side, and the 16” aluminum handguard with M-Lok slots allows use of accessories. Magpul was sourced to supply its MOE plus grip, CTR stock and MBus Pro adjustable sights. The STT-15-6ARC is made in the U.S. and features hardcoat anodizing and a lifetime warranty. The rifle bears an MSRP of $2,895. Users looking to utilize Hornady's new 6mm ARC cartridge to its fullest extent can do so with a precision-built gas gun from San Tan Tactical.
