Armed Citizen® Today

An armed citizen in rural Weslaco, Tex., defended himself and his home when two armed burglars attempted to rob the residence on Nov. 8, 2020.

The incident started before 4 p.m. that Sunday when two armed men wearing black masks entered the home without the permission of the owner. The homeowner, who was at the residence at the time, equipped himself with a firearm and discharged it at the two intruders. The two armed robbers quickly fled the home after the shot and left in a red car parked outside.

The homeowner then called authorities just before 4:00 p.m., telling them that he believed that he might have struck one of the intruders. Not long after the homeowner reported the incident, the Weslaco Police department found one of the robbers at Knapp Medical Center with a single gunshot wound. The wounded 33-year-old intruder later died. The other masked intruder still remains at large. (themonitor.com

From the Armed Citizen® Archives August 1972

Porterville, Calif., store owner William Baker attempted to hide when an armed masked man came into his shop. When the man began firing, Baker returned fire, wounding his assailant. Baker eluded a second masked robber and went for help. The body of the wounded bandit was later found in a driveway, apparently dumped there by his companion. (The Fresno Bee, Fresno, Calif.)
