J.P. Sauer expanded its S404 series of rifles in 2020 with the launch of its Syncro XTC model, a rifle built to provide multi-caliber capability in a rifle that's lightweight, reliable and incredibly accurate. The Sauer S404 Syncro XTC incorporates hand-laid carbon fiber into its design to produce a cutting-edge platform built for the hunting field.

“The Sauer 404 is the finest traditional bolt-action rifle engineered today,” said Jason Evans, CEO, Blaser Group. “The elegance, craftsmanship, precision and modularity of the S404 line is legendary, incorporating nearly 270 years of knowledge with 21st Century technology. The Synchro XTC camo green gives hunters yet another option in our popular flagship line.”

Blending the lessons learned from centuries of gunmaking with modern-day materials isn't an easy task, but the culmination in the form of the Sauer S404 Syncro XTC brings many unique features to modern hunters, starting with the gun's stock.

Constructed from hand-laid carbon fiber, the stock features a thumbhole-style design that saves weight while providing a comfortable, ergonomic platform for handling. The design of the stock provides shooters with a pistol-grip hold for greater control while still preserving some of the lines of a traditional rifle. At the rear of the gun, consumers will find an adjustable comb, as well as a soft pad that works with the carbon-fiber design to reduce recoil.

One of the highlights of the Sauer S404 series of rifles is its multi-caliber capability, which is enabled through the company's SUS universal key. This folding Allen key is integrated into the fore-end swivel on every S404 rifle, allowing owners to quickly and easily change barrels. The rifle's bolt head can also be easily removed and replaced, enabling a complete caliber upgrade. The removable bolt also makes it easy for users to make their guns incapable of firing during storage or transport.

Another safety element incorporated in the Sauer S404 Synchro XTC rifle is its manual cocking system. At the rear of the bolt is a button that can be pressed easily with a shooter's thumb. By pressing the button, a cocked rifle can be uncocked silently. To open the locked bolt, shooters can easily tap the cocking slide, allowing for full manipulation while remaining safe.

To further enhance the Sauer S404 rifle's fit and feel to an individual shooter, the gun is outfitted with a trigger that's adjustable for both pull weight and position. Using an included tool allows shooters to select a pull weight of 1.2, 1.6, 2.2 or 2.7 lbs. The trigger can also be adjusted externally for length-of-pull, with a built-in 0.3" of range, as well as a left-to-right swivel adjustment of five degrees.

The J.P. Sauer S404 Synchro XTC is available in 14 different calibers and weighs about 5.9 pounds, depending on caliber selection. Suggested retail pricing on the rifle starts at $8,199. For more information, visit jpsauer-usa.com.
