An intruder wielding a machete tried to break into a Dekalb County, Ga., neighborhood home at 5:30 a.m. one day. Police found broken windows and glass from two doors that the intruder smashed to gain entrance into the home. Once inside the home, the intruder was confronted by the homeowner, who fired two gunshots a few seconds apart. The intruder was shot in the chest and later transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation was launched as police tried to identify the intruder. A knife-wielding robber was fended off by an armed restaurant owner, who backed the man down with his firearm. When the owner noticed a man walk toward the bar then reach toward his waistband, as if to retrieve a knife, he pulled his pistol, prompting the man to flee the scene. An unidentified Dallas housewife became scared when two men who had fixed a flat tire on her car moved toward her. When one of them grabbed her and pulled her from the car she pointed a pistol in his face. The two men jumped into their car and fled. (Dallas Times Herald, Dallas, Tex.)
