cabbie picked up a fare on the campus of Indiana State University during his midmorning shift. After entering the cab, the passenger gave the driver directions to a nearby apartment. As the passenger exited the vehicle, he suddenly pulled out a gun in an alleged attempt to rob the cab driver. In response, the cab driver grabbed his own firearm and shot the passenger, who ran away from the scene. Police found the would-be robber after he called for emergency medical treatment. The injured man was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Police later charged the man with armed robbery. The cab driver wasn’t facing any charges in the incident. A string of early-morning robberies in Miami were ended by an armed baker. According to Miami Police, at least seven people were robbed by a group of men who asked the victims, "What time is it?" before pulling a gun. One of the victims, a bakery owner, complied by handing over his wallet, when he realized he was being robbed. When the robbers pushed forward, however, and demanded his keys, the baker wouldn't give them up. Instead, the audacious pastry maker pulled his own pistol and fired at the thieves, who still, unfortunately, managed a getaway. (local10.comMiami, Fla., 6/18/2019)
