Editors’ Picks 2019: Daniel Defense Delta 5 Bolt-Action Rifle

Daniel Defense is steering the company in a brave new direction with the Delta 5, the first bolt-action rifle in the Georgia-based firm’s history. Capitalizing on the current craze for long-range precision rifle shooting, the Delta 5 is chambered in three short-action cartridges (6.5 mm Creedmoor, 7 mm-08 Rem. and .308 Win.), all featuring cold-hammer-forged stainless steel barrels threaded 5/8x28 TPI at the muzzle. Modular design allows the gun’s barrel to be easily swapped out, and its chambering switched, without assistance from a gunsmith. The Delta 5’s stainless steel action makes use of a three-lug bolt with a 60-degree throw—along with a 20-m.o.a.-canted scope mount affixed to the top of its receiver—while the carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer stock allows the gun’s length of pull and comb height to be adjusted by the shooter. All three chamberings are compatible with both AICS and Magpul PMAG 7.62 AC magazines. danieldefense.com
