After Hurricane Harvey wreaked havoc in Houston and surrounding cities, leaving many in dire and unfortunate circumstances, Universal Coin and Bullion (UCB), The Exclusive Precious Metals & Rare Coin Expert of NRA Publications, has been proactive in aiding victims of the Houston storm and helping the community return to normal.

In an interview on September 5, 2017, on NRA’s “Cam & Company,” company president Dr. Mike Fuljenz, spoke with host Cam Edwards about how his employees were affected, as well as how they are helping one another.

Located in Beaumont, Texas, directly northeast of Houston, the city and surrounding areas were hit by major flooding that particularly affected the city’s water plant. Consequently, area residents had been without water for over a week and more than half of UCB’s employees lost houses, cars and more due to the flooding.

Additionally, as the floodwaters receded, residents faced looters as well as wildlife in their homes. Fuljenz himself was working with Crime Stoppers, and he reassured the webcast audience, “The 2nd Amendment was still in full force for any looters who tried anything.”

Fortunately, good-hearted people from across Texas and Louisiana, and notably the Cajun Navy, came together voluntarily with boats to rescue people and pets, and to cook meals and deliver them to shelters. Furthermore, Dr. Fuljenz, whose steadfast support has earned him recognition as a member of the NRA Golden Ring of Freedom, stated how “… proud I am that President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have been down to Texas twice and Louisiana once helping with the relief efforts as well as the Governor of Louisiana, John Bel Edwards.”

All those who were impacted by Harvey, as well as those who weren’t, came together to help one another get back on their feet, he reported. As the situation normalized, companies and towns proudly declared that they are back up and running. In that vein, Dr. Fuljenz said, “Beaumont, Texas, is fine. The drainage system was phenomenal and props to the city government … and the Coin Group is up and running. The water is receding and it’s looking good for the area.”
