A clerk at a cell phone store was just doing his job when two men walked into the establishment and asked to look at phones. The clerk started to help them and went into the backroom to grab a phone. When the clerk returned from the back room, one of the men pointed a gun at him. In fear for his life, the store clerk, who has a permit to carry, pulled his gun from his waistband and shot the perpetrator, severely wounding him. The accomplice ran from the store during the exchange of gunfire. The wounded felon, who has a lengthy criminal history, is in the hospital and is charged with first-degree aggravated robbery and two weapons violations. Two armed thugs walked into Charles DiMaggio’s N.Y. delicatessen and demanded money. As one bandit emptied the cash register, the other herded the grocer into a back room. DiMaggio got a cal. .22 rifle which he kept there. Sighting through a hole in the door, DiMaggio fired a shot. The gunmen returned the fire and fled. A short while later a man walked into a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound in the chest. Police summoned DiMaggio who identified the man as one of the robbers. The man had a record of nine previous arrests. (Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, Rochester, NY)
