After a three-year push by your National Rifle Association, in conjunction with the American Suppressor Ass’n and the Iowa Firearms Coalition, Gov. Terry Branstad signed House File 2279 into law March 31. Effective immediately, this makes Iowa the 42nd state to legalize the private possession of suppressors and the 39th state to allow the use of suppressors for hunting. The American Suppressor Assn’s campaign of “No State Left Behind” will next begin the push to add California, Illinois, Massachusetts and New York to the list of suppressor-legal states.
