It was 200 years ago that the Remington name first appeared on a gun barrel. Over the following two centuries, Remington has become one of the greatest gun makers of all time, as well as the oldest in North America. This week we start our look at the rich heritage and history of Remington.

In our “Rifleman Review” we shoot a delightful German side-by-side shotgun, the Merkel Model 40E. For “I Have This Old Gun” we look at a rare variant of the M1 Garand, converted to feed 7.62 cartridges from a box magazine. That gun is the Beretta BM-59E.
