DoubleStar’s new PhD (Personal Home Defense) series contains many of the features found in high-end 1911s, but without the high-end price tag. Made in Kentucky with U.S.-made parts, this series of pistols feature aggressive rear cocking serrations, a flat-topped and serrated slide to reduce glare, and comes equipped with XS Express tritium sights for fast target acquisition. A Wilson Combat high-ride beavertail grip safety rounds out the special features. For more on other pistols offered by DoubleStar—as well as its new line of blades—watch the video above from the 2016 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, or visit Star15.com.
