Designed for 1 1⁄8-oz. heavy target and 1¼-oz. field loads, Ballistic Products’ Z21 wads have notably thicker shotcup walls than standard wads, which intensifies the constriction for improved downrange patterns. As such, they’re well-suited for shots from 30 to 55 yds., and are ideal for trap. To complement the Z21, load it with “premium” No. 7½ nickel-plated lead shot, which maintains its spherical shape (for tighter patterns) and delivers additional clay-breaking energy. The recipe below delivered 77 percent of its pellets within a 30" circle at 40 yds. using an improved-modified choke.
