SIG Sauer has a lot new going on these days. Last year we reported on its Elite Performance Ammunition line, but now SIG is in the suppressor business, the airgun game, and has launched an Electro Optics Division. The optics line includes binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, sights for general-purpose rifles as well as riflescopes. One that caught my eye is the Tango 4, which is a 4X optic with a 30 mm main tube and an illuminated first focal plane reticle. The Tangos also have “zerolock” turrets with magnetic auto-locking at zero. But the Tango (SIG adopted the military alphabet to name each of the optics categories with “Romeo” being for reflex sights intended to go on general-purpose rifles) is just the tip of the iceberg. Look for SIG Sauer to emerge as a major player in the optics and other businesses, as the company offers “systems” now (i.e., gun, suppressor, optic and ammunition), rather than firearms alone. sigsauer.com
