Bill Canada, owner of Meadow's Pharmacy, had just opened the drug store moments before an armed man wearing a mask entered and demanded money. Canada backed away from the robber, but the robber advanced toward him. Canada pulled out his gun and fired a single shot. The suspect's wounds proved fatal. Gregory Lindsey, 29, was at home when a group of six youths tried breaking into his home. Lindsey's teenage son was downstairs doing his homework at the time of the attempted break-in. Lindsey heard the suspects trying to force their way inside, so he retrieved his semi automatic .22 and confronted them. Upon seeing the firearm, the group scattered. June 1967: A gang of five cornered Louis Rivezo, a Brooklyn, N.Y., undertaker, as he left his home. Slamming him against a fence, they robbed him of $150 and mauled him. Rivezo fired three shots from a revolver, for which he had a permit. One fell dead and the gang scattered. (Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Journal)
