With a major assist from Winchester Ammunition, the Deep South now is home to a first-class shooting range. Today was the grand opening of the public McIvor facility near Sardis, Miss. It boasts rifle (to 300 yards) pistol, clays (trap, skeet, sporting and 5-stand), and archery (bullseye and 3-D). This newest jewel in the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks system provides an all-important place to go to practice, train and enjoy one's right to bear arms. The Winchester plant in nearby Oxford is one of the world's biggest ammo factories, and its no coincidence that Winchester also built and operates a shooting range near its other long-time factory in East Alton, Ill.
