Weatherby 80Th A

Weatherby, one of the most iconic names in firearms and ammunition, is celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2025 and celebrating with two special releases—a commemorative rifle and historic ammo boxes. The company was founded in 1945 by wildcatter Roy Weatherby and has remained family owned. Adam Weatherby is the third-generation at the helm today.

The famed firm began not far from the bright lights of Hollywood. It was founded in a South Gate, Calif., garage just after World War II. It wasn’t long until the company moved to a 25'x70' sporting goods store where the fast and flat-shooting cartridges and firearms it offered quickly caught the attention of shooters, including some of the biggest names on the silver screen. The list of loyal customers included John Wayne, Roy Rogers and many other luminaries.

Befitting Commemorative Rifle
The Mark V 80th Anniversary Commemorative Rifle pays tribute to Roy Weatherby’s legacy with a classic look that reflects the company’s history, yet incorporates modern materials and features. Its Mark V titanium action is precision-machined and wears custom filigree engraving.

Its straight-fluted bolt features a Diamond Like Carbon coating, the knob is checkered, and the sleeve is engraved with the motto “Tomorrow’s Rifles Today.” The tensioned carbon-fiber and engraved barrel is the first time the company has used a carbon barrel in combination with a walnut stock.

The touches don’t end there, though. An engraved muzzle brake, Monte Carlo stock made from rich-grained, high-grade walnut, hand-rubbed oil finish, rosewood caps with maple spacers on the grip and fore-end, detailed checkering and more make the rifle worthy of the finest collections.

Each rifle is individually numbered with a custom prefix "80-," marking the 80th anniversary. No two are alike, and this is the first time Weatherby has used custom serial number prefix’s since it moved operations to Sheridan, Wyo. in 2019.

Legacy Ammo Boxes
In addition, Weatherby has brought back three of its most beloved ammunition box designs in a limited run. They include the Tiger Box—perhaps the most iconic of Weatherby’s classic ammo box designs—Whitetail Box and Fox Box.

Pre-orders for the rifle are already being accepted. MSRP is $12,499, and they are expected to ship in November and December of 2025. The special ammunition boxes are currently available with prices running from $99 to $109.
