A resident acted in self defense when an armed intruder broke into their Des Moines, Iowa, apartment on Aug. 6, 2021.

It all started around 12:30 a.m. that Friday morning when a man armed with a handgun forced his way into the apartment. Once inside, the armed intruder threatened and even assaulted some of the residents. In response to the threatening nature of the uninvited guest, one of the residents armed themselves and shot the armed intruder. After being shot by the resident, the intruder fled the residence and later showed up to a emergency room with bullet wound. (apnews.com, Des Monies, Iowa., 08/06/2021)

When a man kicked in the door of Vicki Stroud's Sacramento, Calif., home and began beating her, Stroud's 16-year-old son told the intruder to stop. As the attack continued, the boy went into his mother's bedroom, got a .357 Mag. revolver and returned to fatally shoot his mother's assailant. Police said the shooting was justifiable.
