Armed Citizen® Today

A burglar in Scott City, Mo., lost his life after breaking into a home occupied by an armed homeowner on Aug. 24, 2024.

Just after 2:45 p.m., police responded to the homeowner's call that he had shot an intruder in his house. The caller told officers that an unknown man had kicked in the back door to his home, and he had fired on the intruder. When officers arrived, the homeowner took them to the scene of the break-in, and police began life-saving efforts.

The intruder was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. Scott City Police Chief Christopher M. Griggs said his department is not seeking charges against the homeowner. (KFVS12 News; Scott City, Mo.; 8/25/24)
