Armed Citizen® Today

A jewelry store owner foiled a burglar attempting to rob more than $250,000 of his inventory when he showed up during the heist early on the morning of May 8, according to police.

The owner of Jems, Jewels and Gold in North Wales, Pa., arrived at his store that morning to find two robbers who had drilled through several walls in order to gain access to the jewelry store. The owner was armed and confronted the masked thieves. One suspect carrying a black bag stuffed with jewelry got into a physical altercation with the owner, who shot him once in the right arm during the fight.

Police arrived on scene after responding to a report of a burglary and shots fired at the location. They took the wounded suspect into custody, and he faces charges of burglary and other related crimes. The other suspect escaped out the back door of the shop after being discovered and has not been found. The shop owner was not charged. (Philadelphia Inquirer; North Wales, Pa.; 5/9/24)
