An attempted carjacking by a knife-wielding suspect was thwarted by an armed citizen in Lincolnton, N.C., according to local reports.

Police arrived at an area gas station at 5:30 p.m. on March 31, 2024, following reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found a suspect with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. A subsequent investigation revealed that the 39-year-old suspect entered the victim's vehicle armed with a knife and tried to steal it.

The vehicle's owner was able to retrieve a handgun and shot Galloway, preventing him from taking the vehicle. The suspect was treated at a local hospital for his injury and is now incarcerated, facing charges of attempted robbery. (WBTV 3; Lincolnton, N.C.; 3/31/24)
